All about Casks
Quartercasks.com is named after the type of cask used for secondary maturation of our whiskies - “The Quarter Cask”. (We also use Octaves). The following cask types are currently used by the Scotch Whisky industry:

All casks used are constructed from well seasoned oak. The smaller casks are favoured as the interaction between spirit and wood is far more prolific and results in a more balanced whisky. The casks are ex bourbon and ex sherry and occasionally we use Scottish Oak. |
Smaller casks means that buying is easier on the pocket too, producing around 70 – 175 bottles depending on the cask type. (Bigger casks can be bought if desired.) |
